Dear OpenHouse NYC!
Love your show!
We're moving from our traditional 3500+ sq foot home in woodsy Easton, CT to a barely 1500 sq foot townhouse right on the water in Stratford, CT.
I want to go for a more contemporary urban feel, (I'm thinking glass countertops!), but want to keep water elements and an ocean feel going on since we're right on Long Island Sound. I need help with paint colors, kitchen ideas and layout, furniture lselection and overall layout which will make the most of the smaller space I'm not planning on bringing any of our current furniture to the new place--so I REALLY could use your expertise!
So if this is anything you may be interested in (or at least a portion of it like the kitchen) please contact me before I stock up on brown paper bags due to my anticipated anxiety attacks over this!!
Warm regards,

blukat

Hey George!

I live in beautiful Lincoln Park, New Jersey and boy do I NEED your help!

You know the old story about the shoemaker's kids having holes in their shoes? Well....
I am married to a contractor! You can only imagine what my problems may be.
I also have an idea for a TV show: "Help! I married a contractor!" It would be a big hit!

My husband is a prominent contractor in Northern NJ. He has done the tile and marble work for 3 the the houses of the "Housewives of New Jersey" and many other famous people. Granted, he did do my kitchen and one bath during our 12 year marriage, but we have a 32'x24' master bedroom that looks like a scene out of "Cops." Clutter, lack of organization and poor utilization of space have turned my life upside down. Now after back surgery, he is not able to work. I am doomed to a life clutter and chaos unless you help. Please.....pretty please???

All the best, Kathy

Dear George,

I live on a quiet dead end street located in Wanaque, New Jersey. My property size is 50 X 150 with the beautiful Wanaque Reservoir directly behind me. It is so wonderful to sit on my deck enjoying each seasons new view. However, we need a rescue big time....

Once upon a time, I had a beautiful yard, with an above ground oval pool with a cedar deck that was attached to it. Also in our yard, was a barn like shed that was color coordinated with our house. The summer time was our most favorite time of year to enjoy our yard and entertain friends and family.

Since then, I became a single mom and within the 10 years of being divorced, (and not knowing how to take care of the "outside"), the pool has collapsed over a bad winter storm 2 years ago. The force was so powerful it knocked out part of the cedar deck. The shed is just by luck standing having only one door and the original paint is completely gone. The pool has been removed, along with part of the cedar deck that was knocked down. We are now left with the 15 X 30 sand lot and the remaining deck which is in need of repair. It has loose steps, peeling stain, and nail heads popping up. When we look outside it reminds us of past memories of good times.

Please help us get our once fun, friendly backyard back in time for summer.

Thank you for considering my request,

Jackie

Dear George and the dynamic Open House Crew,

Our back yard is long overdue for some TLC.

We currently have a sandpit in lieu of a back yard. The summer is quickly approaching and our two little boys (ages 7 and 10) are growing restless from staying indoors. Our boys love to play outdoors, but sadly, we can't have them play in the backyard due to the unleveled ground. We tried to be fun parents a few years ago and put up a large inflatable pool. After the pool deflated, we were left with bags of sand, no grass, and lots of dirt. In other words, a non functional space that is also an eye sore.

As full time working parents, we have lots of ideas, but no time to make anything happen.

Can you and your team work your magic and rescue us? If so, we promise to have an "Open House" BBQ as a way of saying "thanks"

Signed "Backyardless in Fresh Meadows"

Dear Open House NYC:

I'm your biggest fan. I watch your show Sunday mornings and I think it is incredible what you are doing for the less fortunate. I consider myself as one of the less fortunate. My basement is a mine zone...filled to the roof with unnecessary things. Whenever I go down there I feel overwhelmed...not knowing where to start and how to fix the problem. The basement is not finished, it is big and needs to be finished. Its a legal basement. It has two entrances with front and back windows.

The problem also is that I am financially paralyzed...I loss my job and my funds are very minimal, to say the least. If it is finished, then it could be an asset for me. I would be so happy to see that basement fix where it can be livable. Please help me help myself in this economic crisis.

Thank you Open House in advance.

Dear George and the Open House Team,

Two and a half years ago my 13-year old son was in a terrible car accident that left him paralyzed. Although he remains in a power chair, but he is back to school and a great kid and now at 16, a successful sophomore in high school. As a result of this accident, we had to do major house rennovations to our home in lower Westchester County.

Our home rennovations are complete and we now have great space for our family, properly built for accessibility (with an elevator) but the space is fairly empty and lacks character. Our many beautiful windows remain naked. Our budget is somewhat tight, but after living with no window treatments and spaces that I think need fairly little to make them great, I am at a loss.

I work full-time and I am the primary caretaker for my son Cory and his three siblings (19, 18 and 9). The two older kids are away at school. Life is very busy and our really nice home gets the shaft in terms of being the low man on the totem pole to address and dress up. When I try and give it some thought, I get totally confused and very stressed. I am very competent in many areas, but this decorating business is totally not my field! I think this would be an easy win for your show and for us!!

We spend most of our free time in the house so it would be great if it was complete, warm and inviting. Would LXTV, a show I am a big fan of by the way, be one of our everyday miracle makers and consider dressing up our space?

Many thanks for your consideration....
Heidi

Hi

It's eighties Ellen here. We have lived with a eighties kitchen since we bought the house back in 1996. We renovated the house except for the kitchen in 1998. The kitchen is 8ft x 22ft with partial plaster and sheet rock with a few holes from the earlier renovation. The cabinets are white mica and a grey mica counter, both very small. The appliances are probably from the seventies. The worst part of it is I am a family of five Tom (my husband), Ellen (me), Sean 9 (son), Kelly 8 (daughter), Casey 5 (daughter). We do eat in the kitchen as a family. During the cold season the kitchen is extremely cold. Often we eat with our winter clothing on. The kitchen was an add on and was not insulated and there is not enough space to supply baseboard because of the way it was designed. If you could rescue eighties Ellen from this blizzard of a kitchen. She would greatly appreciate it.

Chill out Ellen

I love watching you and how you make so many dreams come true. I've attached pictures of my chimney. Since my husband passed away, all repairs had to stop. My grandson comes up and visits for the holidays and I would love a chimney for xmas. He needs Santa to come down the chimney but by the looks of it you will see no one is going down the chimney nor can I have a fire for the holiday. It's a disaster. Please help Santa come to my house. It actually looks like the reindeers made a crash landing on my chimney. I could also use a mantle to hang the Stockings.
Help me so I can make a holiday come to life.
Thanks

Fireplace needs new tile to match kitchen.
Driveway is erroding needs gravel.
Exterior trim work needs finishing.
As you can see they are all small but big impact jobs I cannot afford since loosing my job.

Hello OpenHouse nyc,

My family and I live in a one bedroom condo, My parents started renovations about four years ago so that we could update the condo and sell it and finally move into a house. My Dad works two jobs seven days a week and its very rare to have him stay home for a day, It's because he is very frustrated that no matter how hard he works all week that we can get nothing accomplished and don't really have the money as it seems. Me and my sister have the one bedroom and my parents sleep on the pull out sofa every night. My Mom works hard too as a landscape designer and taking care of us kids (my sister is 12 and I am 14) My parents started the kitchen, bathroom and the living room but never really finished.. We have run out of space,it was just my mothers birthday and what she asks for every year is to finally finish the house and move so that she can have a bed and a room of her own.

Please help us!
We watch your show all the time and your designs are beautiful!
Thank you for your time!

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to request some help with our new apartment that we are moving into.
We live in Forest Hills, Queens now but we are moving to Midwood, Brooklyn, to an attic apartment. The house is a 100+ year old house that is owned by my girlfriend’s (Christina) grandfather. The house is pretty well maintained, but it is out-dated and our top floor apartment lacks a lot of storage space. Almost all the walls are slanted and furniture over 5 feet tall doesn’t fit flush with the wall.

We are moving because my girlfriend got laid off from her job at a market research company and in order to take advantage of her health benefits had a physical and some other tests for her seasonal allergies only to discover that she had thyroid cancer. Thankfully, the surgery went smooth and she is dealing with the post-op healing process.

She was able to work out a deal with her previous employer to keep her benefits in order
To continue with follow-ups and other treatments that may be necessary. We have visions of doing some renovating but she can’t do any heavy lifting, or light lifting for that matter and it would be great to have some help to renovated/ update our apartment. It is a small but cozy space and we think it has some potential. Having a professional come help us and give us ideas for utilizing a small space would be great. I would be happy to send pictures or measurements and any other information that may be helpful.
She does not know that I am writing, but I know that help with our new apartment will relieve some of the stress of moving into a smaller space and bring joy to her. We would love your expertise to make our new house a comfortable home.

Thank you for your time,

Dear George,

My name is Natalie and im 20 years old. I live in a private home with my parents and younger brother. I have my own bedroom and am looking to renovate it. My room has the oddest most inconvenient shape ever. Its kind of the shape of an attic with the triangle cieling, however it isnt an attic, its on the same floor as everyone elses bedrooms. Everyone has a regularly squared bedroom, where they are able to use their walls and fill up the room with furniture. However I do not. The triangle cieling comes down half way, and the other half is a straight wall. Not only is this half wall completley inconvient because I cannot fit ANY normal furniture in my room, but this half wall is covered in CARPET. Yes, carpet. I have carpeting on my walls. Therfore i cant even decorate! Ugh, did i mention I was FEMALE? Yea, so im sure you can imagine.
I have to stress how I am a fashionista, used to go to Fashion school, and have a serious addiction to buying clothes and keeping them. I do have somewhat of a clutter problem, but in the most organized way. I seem to have alot of everything. I have racks and stacks of shoes. Closets and drawers of clothing. Bags that i dont even know what to do with. Drawers filled with belts. A clothing rack covered in skirts and dresses. Oh and the list goes on.
I am a totaly organized freak, with everything in size and color order. But i dont have the proper furniture to fit in the oddly shaped room that can hold what I have. I already have ideas on removing the carpeting, hopefully doing a wood floor, color ideas, decorational style and so forth. But my main issue that no closet building, custom making, renovators or decoration experts seem to solve, is how and what to build a closet or find furniture that can be useful to me and my room. If you contact me through e-mail i would love to send you pictures, because I'm sure its hard to understand what im talking about. Its hard to explain, and even harder to look at!

Please please pretty please with some decoration on top can you help me. I have great ideas to work with yet no solution on closets, space, cieling, walls, etc.

You can contact me at me e-mail adress which is toodivafoyou@aol.com

Im sure this would be an interesting project for you to work on and a great rescue for me as i transition from being a young girl into a mature woman, and transition my bedroom to a more serious and appropriate place where i spend most of my time.

Thank you!
Natalie :)

Dear George,

I know you must get this a lot ...but ... MAYDAY...MAYDAY!!!!!!! This is a MAJOR DISTRESS CALL..... Please rescue me from the 1950's that has barfed all over my house.

My husband and I have just bought our first home and despite our greatest attempts to live the "American Dream"...things are looking bleak ! We have purchased a house that seems to be like a waxed re-creation of the 1950's... Pink walls, "groovy flooring" you name it ..it's got it. The previous owner was the original owner and has not touched or changed anything in the house since it was built! EVERYTHING is in it 's ORIGINAL condition. Even the electrical amps in the house is only 100 --- I can't even have the washer, TV and dishwasher on without fear of "shorting out " the house.

I know deep in my heart that this house has potential. I have absolutely no idea where to start. I'm losing friends fast ,cuz all I talk about is reno's and even the people at home depot know my face and try to avoid me ...cuz I ask them a million questions , but still don't have a clue on what to buy!!

If you can give me some direction, tips ( AnYtHinG) that could possibly help us somehow modernize this house and make it a home for us.
The living room has such an odd shape , with two seating areas that I don't know what to do with.... a kitchen that is so old and warn out ( the counter-tops are army fatigue green--need I say more???) I'm honestly trying to stay positive , but it is such an over-whelming feeling --- finally having a house to come home to ...but absolutely no idea of how to make it our own.

George, I've seen the amazing work you do in even the smallest spaces.... Please ...please.... be my knight-in-shining- armour ( I won't tell my husband --hahahaha) and rescue me ...so that we can finally enjoy our first home !!!

P.S -- as a bonus to you and your LX viewers..... I'm totally cute, bubbly, animated (score!!) ...and would make great TV. I'm also very humble ...and If you can offer any suggestions for us ..I would greatly appreciate it !!!.

Thank You for your time,
Colleen

I am drowning in clutter, my 2 yr old has written on my walls, just clothes and everything everywhere. I have so many ideas when it comes to decorating. I love the gray on today's show. It's very modern & sexy. I loved the white cealing. I love colors, art and just a modern look. I have a beautiful home with lots of space and my dream is to make it a comfortable living enviornment for my children. I am currently attending Drake College of Business located downtown Newark on Broad Street. I am there from 9-2 then I am home doing all the things that a single parent does. My children are 1,2 & 8. I am home most of the time and although this is the hardest job in America, I LOVE doing it everyday. I applaud all the single parents, we all deserve a break sometimes. I always wanted to live in New York so I just want a New York, Sex in the City, Children live here feel to my home I don't know if U will but PLEEEEEASE come to NJ and give my place that NY feel. My 8yr old watches your show and always say's,"Mom I wish they could make our house nice like that." Me 2 son!!!  I hope that your show picks us to help.

Hi George!

We bought our first home about a month ago. It was a foreclosed property that we fell in love with located in Wappingers Falls NY. We have had to do some work on it as it was very neglected and also sat on the market for about a year. It's a cute cape cod in the perfect neighborhood for family living. We have three children that I homeschool, so owning our first home has been very educational for the children as well. Our biggest obstacle at the moment is the front of the home. It is built solidly, but the location of the windows is VERY weird (only located at the corners of the house) and I really just have not figured out a solution to the weird window placement. It's difficult to explain and I wish I could attach a picture because I assure you, anyone looking at it would understand my plight. This house and neighborhood deserves curb appeal and I just have no clue how to get there with these windows. I'm serious, REALLY WIERD. Please help us!

Dear George,
Every weekend my daughter and I watch your show and love it so much we wouldn't think to miss it. We wish that you could help us, like you rescue all of the others. I am divorced with one remaining child at home. Although she is very talented in school, neither of us are very handy at home. My daughter supports my efforts with duct tape and putty, but my expertise lies in Nursing, not in fixing our crumbling bathroom. The floor tiles are popping up, the floor's buckling, the cold water pipes seemed to have gotten clogged and to fix the pipes would require breaking through the wall and ruining the tile. However, my fiances prevent me from being able to fix our atrocious bathroom. Having company over is embarrassing, for fear that they will have to see the bathroom. Please help us!

Dear George,

Ever since i can remember my parents have always spoiled me even when they couldn't afford to. My sister and i always had everything we have ever wanted. As a full time student at 18 years old i believe its time to repay my parents for all their hard work. My father is a full time electrician. When i say full time i mean 24/7. Not one day passes where he doesn't pick up extra work. Everything i have ever asked for my father has made for me. He is capable of really anything. He isn't the only one though. My mother has hands of gold and a heart to go with it. She has worked all her life as well. We all moved here from europe about 12 years ago and have had to give up a lot of things in order to get by. My parents made it easy on us by providing us with every thing we wanted. We never asked for any help from the government. Everything that we own my parents build and worked for on their own. We just purchased a one family house about one week ago. The house is in very bad condition. My father goes to the house every chance he gets on his spare time and works non-stop. It kills me to see him spend so much time on it because well I'm sure he's still dark and handsome but we all know he is no longer in his youth. This house is not only killing him physically but financially. When we purchased the house we got scammed by our broker and now we are not only stuck paying more than we bargained for but we have to pay a lot more to fix the house as well. I have seen what you can do and it is amazing. I wouldn't be asking if it wasn't completely necessary. I am a college student and i work part time but i barely make $400 bi-weekly. My sister is unemployed and 23 and my parents do their best to manage everything. We really need your help. It would be unreasonable to ask for a full house make over but any help you can give us we will take. My parents deserve a break and i can't give it to them without your help. Thank you so much. The changes you give these people are amazing.

You can e-mail me any time. Arvapetro@gmail.com
i will be waiting every day. Thank you.

Hi George, love your show and how you make people so happy. This request is for my son and daughter in law. They just put a beautiful addition onto their very old and small house (built in 1790) in Bedford, N.Y. They have tried to keep the feeling of "old" and they did a great job. One problem they have, is the path from the driveway to the house (there is no garage). There was flagstone there, but it was picked up during constrution and now it is dangerous walking from the car to the front door. They have so many other things to do, such as landscaping, buying furniture for their 2 little boys, getting a dining room set, furniture for the new family room I know they are overwhelmed and broke. If you could help with the front, it would be wonderful. Thank you. A concerned grandma

I love your show! I get up early every Sunday morning to watch you rescue someone's house. I love seeing the before and after pictures and seeing how much the space has changed. Now, I am hoping that you will come to my house in CT and rescue my patio.
My patio needs your help! The house and the patio was built in the early 1930's, which was a very long time ago. The patio was made out of bricks and they have deformed over the decades. The bricks are not lined up correctly, therefore letting weeds and moss grow in between them over time. They are crooked and going in every direction! It hurts me to see that I can do nothing with this patio that has so much potential. We need your help to come and give us a new, updated patio.

Thank you

Dear George:

I desperately need help with my basement. Ten years ago, my husband and I bought a split level home in Island Park, New York. It was a 1970's do-over. We renovated the kitchen, stripped the living room floors and converted our garage into a den. However, we never got a chance (or the funds) to renovate the semi-basement. The basement is literally falling apart. The walls are crumbling and lately, I've been faced with disgusting pests, such as "spiders, ants, and now......large slugs" HELP! I can't take it anymore.

This is an official SOS letter coming from a desperate mom all the way from testosterone town! Now don't get me wrong I love my boys...But as the only female in a house full of boys I need a space  that I can call my own, that I can feel like a woman. From my horse riding police officer husband who comes equipped with all of his electronics, power tools and lawn accoutrements, to my 3 year old son who is the resident collector of anything under the sun (no pun intended) , to my 3 month old son, and don't forget my 130 pound rescued dobbie, male of course, who eats cabinets and couches for breakfast, I need your help desperately!  I attempted to claim the basement as my own territory but it had been taken over by years of junk and a lack of ideas. So I am writing to ask you to help me claim a space of my own free from toy trucks, power tools, jock straps, sports magazines, dog bones and boxer briefs. And please hurry, I am afraid if you don't get here soon I might start growing hair on my chest! :)

We so far have put around 130k into the house redoing the kitchen and adding a pool to the already beuatiuful grounds... This house like many other in the 80's was blessed with enough wallpaper to deplete a redwood forest! While I have done quite a bit to the house the foyer remains a huge challenge. The prior owner was an amazing wood worker and the whole house is also laden with beautiful oak crown and base trim.. We are stumped wih a look for the foyer and could really use a professionals help. The house is beautiful and I would be more than happy to send you pics if you like.. Please Help..Jn and Chris

Hello my name is Cameron and me and my mom always watch your show every Sunday. But my family needs your help. We have so much stuff to put away and such little space. And we would be greatful and come and help us out. I tried to convince my parents to get rid of stuff but they always say no,i tried to clean up the apartment but it always fails. We would like you to fix up everything in our house and make more space and we would be so greatful if you come, thank you for your time from my family in Sheepshead Bay,Brooklyn. Thanks

Hi Lx.TV my nane is jennifer and I desperately need your help. I love the show I watch if faithfully before I leave for church on Sunday. Our bathroom is the worst. No matter what I use to clean it there is always a stinky odor. It has those old shower doors that the scum builds up inside. I use a toothbrush to clean thme out how disgusting (YUCK). The tiles are also falling apart. We have use grout several time to keep them in place. However, it is two different colors. When we have company I am always nervous that they would smell the stinky odor. I had to resign from my place of employment due to childcare. My husband currently the only provider at this time. I desperatly need your help. I wish that I could sent he scent via e-mail, you would definetly pick me. PLEASE HELP. It would be a GOD send for the NEW YEAR. Thank you for your consideration. Jennifer.

Hi,
I'm a fan and marvel at your transformations! never thought I would want to showcase my helplessness!
I am 35 and mom of two (8 and 6) My husband and I were recently surprised with the news of a 3 rd arrival.
COMING SOON TO NY ON JUNE 25,09 (LOL)

Our home is a 4bedroom but the 3rd bedroom since we purchased the home has always been set up as a home office. It is 9 by 14. It has a 1ft book shelf that takes up one entire side of the room and the other side is partially open overlooking a loft.( the loft has never been utilized, we could not figure out how it could be best used) The book shelf , doors and moldings are painted a dark walnut and the walls are painted a Salmon color - I know Good Grief !
PLEASE HELP US, OR ELSE IT WOULD BE NO SECRET TO THE BABY- HE WAS A BIG SURPRISE !!

Thank you - Michele and Anthony - home on Staten Island

I am looking for somebody who could do some small alterations and repairs, with care and not at exorbitant prices. I live on West 66th Street, between Amsterdam and Broadway.
Thanks you, George

Hello, I reside in Plainfield, New Jersey for 32 years. I am appealing to you regarding my bathroom and kitchen for remodeling. Please I am 59 yo and retired and after putting a daughter through college, then a divorce, I have no money to spend on renovations in my house. My kitchen is a 1960's style and very large. My bathroom needs serious updating completely. Please I really love my house but those 2 areas are eyesores. If you can at least do the bathroom I would really kiss the ground you walk on.

Dear George,

My partner and I love the show and looking forward to watch it every Sunday. We are the happy owners of a beautiful home in Hackensack, we have 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths (needs some update) and very large kitchen and a great room, place that we enjoy every night with our 4 french poodles babies (mother, father, little boy and little girl). The problem: Our great room has a single window and we would love to convert it into a triple window so more light came into the room and would appreciate the outdoors. Please help us.
