•
Interior designer Sara Story takes us through the Gramercy Park home she shares with her husband and two children. Story tells us about her inspiration for each room and how we can tap into some of her design aesthetic.

 •
Story is known for her use of wallpaper -- and she is known to use it behind bookshelves,

a subtle highlight to the trinkets/books displayed here.

 •
The inspiration for Story's living room was a French fashion salon. We can definitely see Coco Chanel lounging here.

 •
Story hates fluffing pillows -- a petpeeve

that makes this low-maintenance leather Chesterfield sofa so perfect.

 •
These Burmese monks add a special touch to the living room fireplace. Story found them in Thailand -- she's known to incorporate pieces from her international travel.

 •
Story's combined her dining room with a decidedly minimalist kitchen. The cupboards boast a sleek design and counter display is limited to a few cookbooks and bottles of wine.

 •
This table's rustic look fits well with the simple design of Story's kitchen and is surrounded by Ming Dynasty
 •
Story created this office nook off of her master bedroom -- but isn't all work and no play -- just look at the hand-painted, iridescent fish-themed wallpaper!

 •
This library/study is actually the first apartment she and her husband owned in the building.

It was combined with the apartment downstairs.

 •
Practical as it may be, Story's use of color comes through in this sultry crushed velvet sofa, which pairs nicely with red end tables from China.

 •
Story lines the study's bookshelves with a coral-tinged wallpaper that enriches the mahogany wood of the structure
 •
A bathroom off of the study has a Moroccan theme

and rich red walls to match the colorful printed tiles.

 •
Story had this portrait painted in the style of one of her favorite artists.

 •
Next to the study, the kids have their own space -- a playroom that's just as carefully decorated as the rest of the house.

Gramercy Park Design: In Pictures

Interior Designer Sara Story takes us through her Gramercy Park home, where every room has a theme (like the living room inspired by a French fashion salon). Sara's try-this-at-home design tricks include lining bookshelves with graphic print wallpaper and highlighting art fixtures and paintings by coordinating them with similarly-hued wall colors.
